A 21-year-old Indiana man is facing multiple charges after allegedly killing his girlfriend and shooting two men who tried to intervene.
Victim and Incident
Cheyenne Angelina Raines, 23, was killed on May 10 in Muncie, Indiana. Witnesses say Rylynn Joshua Davis dragged Raines down a sidewalk by her feet while she screamed for help. Two men in a passing truck tried to intervene and were shot by Davis, who allegedly fired “emotionless and cold” at them.
Injuries and Response
Raines suffered numerous gunshot wounds to her face, chest, abdomen, and back and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. One of the good Samaritans was critically injured, shot in the head, and airlifted to another hospital. The other man was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
Arrest and Charges
Davis was quickly detained at the scene. He is charged with 10 criminal counts, including murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery, kidnapping, criminal confinement, and neglect of a dependent. Prosecutors are pursuing a firearm sentencing enhancement, which could significantly increase his sentence.
Discovery of Children
After fleeing the scene, Davis was found at a home with three young children—ages 3, 2, and 3 months—locked in a bedroom in unsanitary conditions. This led to additional charges for neglect of a dependent.
Legal Status
Davis is being held without bond at the Delaware County Jail. His initial court appearance is scheduled for May 27.
