A Florida man is in custody after authorities said he is a person of interest in the disappearance and suspected murder of his father.
Disappearance of Andres Bahamon-Prada
Andres Bahamon-Prada, 43, has not been seen since May 7, when he visited his mother in Williston, Florida, before going to the gym. Police began investigating his disappearance on May 16 after finding evidence suggesting foul play.
Person of Interest: Son in Custody
Andres Bahamon, 25, is being held at the Marion County Jail. According to court documents, Bahamon allegedly made statements to his grandmother and mother indicating he may have killed his father.
Authorities also executed a search warrant at the home the father and son shared, finding a bullet near the porch, recently disturbed dirt, and human remains wrapped in a carpet.
Alleged Confessions
Court records indicate Bahamon texted his mother in Germany and allegedly sent a photo of his father’s body, warning her not to interfere. The grandmother reported that Bahamon admitted, “I think he’s dead,” adding that his father “was in hell where he deserves to be.”
Charges and Court Dates
Bahamon was charged with tampering with evidence in connection with his father’s disappearance. He remains held without bond, with his next court appearance scheduled for June 23.
