Tatiana Maxwell, 25, has been arrested in Chicago after allegedly fatally stabbing her infant daughter, Nyhnia Stovall, before jumping from a second-floor window.

Details of the Incident

The stabbing occurred on Friday, May 15, in the 3000 block of W. 59th Street. Emergency crews transported the baby to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Maxwell reportedly jumped from the upper-level window after the attack and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center for stabilization.

Charges

Maxwell faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of murder with a strong probability of death or injury. Police recovered a knife at the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Witness Accounts

Neighbors described seeing Maxwell fall from the window after the stabbing. The infant was found inside the residence with a puncture wound to the chest.
