An argument in the parking lot of Roper Saint Francis Hospital led to a gunshot, according to CPD.

The Charleston Police Department arrested a man following a shooting incident at Roper Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina. No injuries were reported.

Details of the Incident

Officers were dispatched around 10:40 a.m. on Saturday to the hospital at 2095 Henry Tecklenburg Drive after reports of gunfire in the parking lot. The suspect, Melvin S. Forrest, Jr., 31, of Walterboro, was at the scene and taken into custody.

Victim and Charges

The victim reportedly fled in a vehicle and contacted 911. Detectives determined the suspect and the victim knew each other and had an argument before the shooting. Forrest has been charged with first-degree assault and battery.
