According to court documents, Rivera initially suggested the injuries may have been caused by the child’s older sibling.

Investigators later said Rivera admitted she was overwhelmed, depressed, and struggling emotionally.

A witness told police Rivera allegedly confessed by saying, “I squeezed the baby.”

During a later police interview, Rivera reportedly said the injuries were likely caused by her actions.

According to reports, Rivera later approached a sheriff’s deputy and said she believed there was an active warrant for her arrest.

She was taken into custody and remains jailed without bond.
