An Arizona man accused of killing his estranged wife and smoking a cigar while their teenage daughter tried to save her life has been denied a request to lower his bond.

Judge Refuses to Lower Bond

Robert Marin is charged with first-degree murder in the March shooting death of his wife, Heather Marin, at their Phoenix home.

A judge denied his request this week to reduce his $2 million cash bond.

Daughter Witnessed Aftermath

According to police, the couple’s 17-year-old daughter found her father in the garage covered in blood and smoking a cigar while her mother lay dying nearby.

Investigators said the teen attempted CPR on her mother after the shooting.

Court documents state Heather Marin was shot multiple times during an argument linked to the couple’s separation and divorce.

Family Fears Suspect Could Be Released

Heather Marin’s brother told reporters he feared Robert Marin could be released if the bond amount were lowered because he has the financial means to pay it.

He also described the suspect as a danger to family members and others connected to the case.

Police Cite Prior Threats and Weapons

Investigators said the daughter reported an earlier unreported domestic violence incident in which Robert Marin allegedly threatened to shoot Heather Marin before killing himself.

Authorities also said the suspect owned multiple firearms stored throughout the home.

Police found a gun, spent shell casings, and blood-covered clothing at the scene after the shooting.
