A bicyclist slain near the Columbiana Centre mall has been identified

Authorities have identified 27-year-old Standly Stampson as the victim in a fatal crash that occurred Sunday morning at Columbiana Centre in Columbia.

Incident Details

The Columbia Police Department responded to the scene around 10:45 a.m. Sunday, where a vehicle and a bicycle collided in the mall’s parking lot. Stampson, who was riding his bicycle southbound, was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Columbiana Circle, a road that runs around the perimeter of the mall’s parking lots.

Victim’s Condition and Investigation

Stampson was transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries. According to Richland County Coroner Margaret Fisher, Stampson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the incident.

Ongoing Investigation

The Columbia Police Department is leading the investigation into the crash, and further details are expected as the investigation continues.
