A Columbia man is facing multiple charges after a fatal crash on I-20 early Saturday morning, which left one person dead.

Incident Details

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, 42-year-old William Gunter was driving east on I-20 near mile marker 75, about a mile from the Two Notch Road exit, around 2:30 a.m. when his van veered off the road.

The van struck a person who was refueling a car parked on the shoulder of the interstate, as well as the parked vehicle itself. The individual who was refueling the car was killed in the incident.

Charges Filed

Gunter is now facing multiple charges, including felony leaving the scene of a collision involving death, felony DUI, leaving the scene of a collision involving property damage, and simple possession of marijuana.
