An Ohio woman, Kamariea Marshall, has been charged with child endangerment after allegedly injuring a 3-month-old boy she was babysitting in March. Marshall now faces three counts of child endangerment following the disturbing incident, which has left the infant with serious injuries.
The Alleged Abuse and Discovery of Injuries
The baby’s mother had entrusted Marshall with caring for her son while she packed her apartment, which was about to undergo renovations. The mother explained that she had only three days to complete the packing, during which Marshall was responsible for babysitting.
Days later, Marshall texted the baby’s mother asking why the child had marks on his body. Concerned, Marshall then took the baby to the hospital. Upon arrival, the mother learned the devastating news—her child wasn’t breathing.
The hospital examination revealed multiple signs of abuse, including bruises on the baby’s chest, fractured ribs, a bite mark on his legs, and scratches on his cheeks. Doctors suspected abuse and promptly contacted authorities.
Marshall’s Actions and Arrest
Marshall allegedly told hospital staff that she believed the boy was sick, according to the baby’s mother. Following the indictment in April, Marshall turned herself in to Adult Probation on May 4 and was subsequently booked in the Lucas County Jail in Toledo, Ohio. Marshall had previously been on probation for prior theft and assault convictions.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 13.
The Baby’s Recovery
Despite the horrific ordeal, the baby’s mother reported that her son is now “doing good” and is “healthy” after the alleged abuse. Authorities continue to investigate the case, and Marshall faces serious legal consequences for her actions.
