A Georgia woman was arrested after surveillance footage allegedly showed her stepping on a 5-year-old child at an autism therapy center. The incident occurred at Circle City ABA Therapy Center in Augusta on Tuesday, April 28, 2025.
Incident Details
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Aaniyah Brown, a resident of Augusta, was charged with first-degree cruelty to children following the incident. Deputies responded to the therapy center around 1:23 p.m. after receiving a report that Brown had assaulted the child. The report was made by an individual who was informed of the incident by another person.
Surveillance Video Captures Incident
Security camera footage from inside the therapy center allegedly showed Brown pushing the child away twice with her foot before holding him down by stepping on his lower back. The video also reportedly showed Brown placing her foot on the child’s face as he tried to stand up. Deputies reviewed the footage and confirmed the events as described.
Brown’s Statement and Arrest
When questioned by deputies, Brown reportedly stated that she had used her foot to prevent the child from harming her. Despite her explanation, she was arrested at around 4:20 p.m. and transported to the Richmond County Jail.
Brown was charged with one count of first-degree cruelty to children. She was later released from jail after posting a $22,000 bond.

Circle City ABA Therapy Center did not respond immediately to requests for comment. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and more information may be released as authorities continue to review the case.
