Berkeley County, S.C. – A two-day traffic enforcement drive along Clements Ferry Road has led to more than 100 vehicle stops and several citations. Officials say the operation was aimed at improving road safety and reducing risky driving behaviour in one of the area’s busy corridors.
Joint Operation to Improve Road Safety
The operation was carried out on April 20 and 21 by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Charleston Police Department and the South Carolina State Transport Police.
The main goal was to control dangerous driving habits and prevent serious accidents along Clements Ferry Road.
Key Results from the Enforcement Drive
During the two-day operation, authorities reported:

Speeding was the most common violation, with 32 drivers caught driving above the speed limit.

- Reckless e-bike use
- Not wearing seatbelts
- Ignoring traffic signals
Other offences included driving with a suspended licence, expired vehicle tags, and violations of South Carolina’s Move Over law.
Officials Stress Importance of Safe Driving
Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis highlighted the dangers of speeding and careless driving. He stated that such enforcement drives help authorities focus on high-risk areas, take action against violators, and make roads safer for everyone.
