Officials said deputies were called around 5 a.m. to Wildcat Lane in Burton following reports of a disturbance. Shortly after arriving, Washington allegedly began firing at deputies, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Search and Arrest

After the shooting, law enforcement set up a perimeter and launched a search operation. K9 units were used during the search, and officers recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident. Washington was later found and taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities confirmed that no deputies or the suspect were injured during the shootout. However, due to the nearby schools, the Beaufort County School District was alerted as a precaution.
