Officials say a 5-acre woods fire caused minimal damage to a building in the Pamplico area

A woods fire in Florence County caused damage to a nearby building but was quickly brought under control, officials said.

Fire Breaks Out in Pamplico Area

According to Florence County Fire Rescue, crews responded around 4 p.m. to a fire in the 1500 block of North Pamplico Highway.

While firefighters were on the way, they were informed that several structures, including a home, were at risk due to the spreading flames.

Damage and Response

The fire burned about five acres of wooded land and caused minor exterior damage to a nearby commercial building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Emergency crews worked quickly to control the situation, and the fire was contained by 5:54 p.m.

Traffic and Assistance

During the response, lanes in the area were temporarily closed to allow firefighters to work safely. Additional support came from crews in the Hannah-Salem area, Florence County Station 72, and the South Carolina Forestry Commission.

Investigation Ongoing

Officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the forestry commission.
