A lady from Berkeley County is accused of stealing scratch-off lottery tickets.

Denise Antionette Maxwell, a 35-year-old from Goose Creek, faces lottery fraud charges in Charleston and Dorchester Counties for allegedly stealing and redeeming scratch-off tickets. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) investigated incidents from July 24, 2025, captured on surveillance video.

Incident Details

On that date, Maxwell reportedly stole five tickets from Rivers Mart on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston and redeemed them for $100 at a Dorchester Road business. She also stole four tickets from a Circle K on West Aviation Avenue and tried unsuccessfully to cash them at Gas-N-Go on Rivers Avenue.

Additional Charges

Dorchester County charges include more thefts from a Speedway on Ashley Phosphate Road, where she redeemed tickets at a Parkers on Ladson Road for $15 and passed one to a third party who cashed it for $20. She was booked into Charleston County Detention Center on January 14, 2026, then transferred to Dorchester the next day.
