North Charleston police arrested 26-year-old Gerald Jerome Moultrie III on Monday after a brief vehicle pursuit stemming from a traffic stop. He faces charges including possession with intent to distribute marijuana, failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, distribution near a school, and public disorderly conduct.

Traffic Stop Details

Around 1 p.m. near Dorchester Road and Constitution Avenue, an officer pulled over Moultrie’s vehicle for illegal window tint and a defective brake light. Moultrie disclosed a concealed firearm and marijuana odor prompted a search request.

Pursuit Sequence

Instead of exiting, Moultrie drove off through nearby business parking lots, abandoned the vehicle behind a Dorchester Road business, and fled on foot. Officers set a perimeter and apprehended him hiding in a Bonds Avenue ditch.

Evidence Found

A business manager recovered a large bag of green plant material discarded from the driver’s window during the escape.

Detention

Moultrie was booked into Al Cannon Detention Center following the incident.
