Victim was approached from behind and shot on East Montague Ave: report

Police in North Charleston, South Carolina, are investigating after a 45-year-old man was attacked and shot Tuesday afternoon by a group of three suspects.

The Incident

According to a police report, officers responded to East Montague Avenue around 4:14 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.

When they arrived, they found the victim lying in a parking lot with a gunshot wound to his left leg. Officers quickly applied a tourniquet before EMS transported him to a local hospital. His current condition has not been released.

Victim’s Account

The victim told officers that he was jumped from behind by three men dressed in all black. He said the attackers:

Beat him up before pulling a gun

Shot him once in the leg

Fled the scene on foot, running down Gaynor Avenue into the Liberty Hill neighborhood

Police recovered a single shell casing at the scene.

Investigation Ongoing

No arrests have been made. North Charleston Police say they are actively searching for the suspects and reviewing evidence.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the North Charleston Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry.

The broad-daylight attack on East Montague Avenue has left one man hospitalized and police searching for three suspects.
