All lanes have now reopened on the Don Holt Bridge in North Charleston following a deadly motorcycle crash on Saturday morning. The crash occurred around 9:10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-526 and involved a commercial vehicle and a motorcycle.
Incident Details
The motorcyclist tragically died at the scene. As a result of the crash, I-526 at the Don Holt Bridge was shut down for several hours, causing significant traffic delays. Officers from the North Charleston Police Department were on-site, managing the situation by turning vehicles around on the bridge and rerouting traffic to the Virginia Avenue exit.
Traffic Disruptions
The closure of I-526 led to heavy traffic delays that stretched through much of the morning and early afternoon. Commuters were advised to take alternate routes as the investigation into the incident continued.
