In a serious case that shocked many, a man from San Gabriel Valley, California, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for creating and sharing disturbing child sexual abuse content. Authorities confirmed that the material involved the man sexually abusing a toddler, which he recorded and distributed online.
Man Found Guilty of Horrific Crimes
David Lisandro Perez Figueroa, 23, from Monrovia, California, admitted to producing and distributing child sexual abuse material. He pleaded guilty in November 2024 to one count each of producing and sharing child pornography. On April 14, 2025, he was sentenced in a federal court in the Central District of California to 360 months (30 years) in prison.
In addition to the prison term, the court ordered him to pay $2,799 in restitution to the victim and placed him on lifetime supervised release, meaning authorities will monitor him even after his release from prison.
Abuse Caught on Camera and Shared Online
Between an unknown date and December 2023, Perez Figueroa recorded himself abusing a 2-year-old child to create illegal videos. He later used the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) to distribute this material in July 2023, posting it through an account linked to him.
International Cooperation Helps Crack the Case
The case came to light when British police, during an investigation in the UK, found chat logs and images on X that included this abuse content. They contacted U.S. authorities through ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in London. After receiving the information, ICE HSI Los Angeles took action.
On December 5, 2023, federal agents executed a search warrant at Perez Figueroa’s home, leading to his arrest and the rescue of the child victim.
ICE’s Mission to Protect Children
ICE Homeland Security Investigations plays a leading role in fighting child exploitation. They work both in the U.S. and with other countries to catch people who create, share, or view illegal child sexual content. They are also involved in stopping those who travel abroad to exploit children.
Dwayne Angebrandt, Acting Deputy Special Agent in Charge at ICE HSI Los Angeles, said the sentence allows the victim and family to begin their recovery and shows justice has been served.
This heartbreaking case is a reminder of the threats that exist online and the importance of global cooperation in protecting children. Thanks to the efforts of law enforcement agencies in both the U.K. and U.S., the criminal was arrested, and the young victim was rescued. ICE continues to urge the public to report any signs of child exploitation to help stop predators and protect innocent lives.
