Fire Breaks Out on South Chase Avenue
A fire broke out early Saturday morning on the 500 block of S. Chase Avenue in Lombard, IL, leaving a home uninhabitable and causing an estimated $250,000 in damages.
Firefighting Efforts and Damage
The Lombard Fire Department received the call at 10:23 a.m., after smoke was reported at 10:18 a.m. Upon arrival, Lombard Police confirmed visible flames. Firefighters battled heavy flames at the rear of the house, using multiple hose lines to contain the blaze. Progress was briefly slowed by floor damage inside the home, but crews successfully extinguished fires in the basement and main level, preventing the flames from reaching the second floor and attic.
Evacuation and Safety Measures
Utility services were safely disconnected, and a thorough search confirmed all residents had evacuated the home. No injuries were reported among firefighters. A neighbor was evaluated by paramedics on the scene but declined further treatment.
