Incident at Centennial Beach
The Naperville Police Department responded to the scene at 5:43 p.m. on Thursday after receiving reports of a missing swimmer. The man was last seen in the deep end of the pool. Lifeguards quickly located the swimmer and pulled him from the water at 6:06 p.m. He was unresponsive when pulled from the water.
Medical Response
Emergency crews from the Naperville Fire Department transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The authorities are now investigating what led to the incident.
What Happened?
According to police, the man had entered the water with a group of friends, planning to swim to a floating dock located in the middle of the deep end of the pool. When the group reached the dock, they noticed the victim was missing. They searched the area around the dock before returning to the shore and informing lifeguards, who then started the missing person protocol.
