Residents in Valparaiso can expect an increased presence of emergency vehicles and personnel around Valparaiso High School this week, as the Valparaiso Police Department, in collaboration with Valparaiso Community Schools and the Valparaiso Fire Department, conducts a series of safety drills and training exercises.
Training Activities at Valparaiso High School
The training activities will take place at Valparaiso High School, located at 2727 Campbell Street, starting Monday, July 7, and continuing through Wednesday, July 16, 2025. These exercises will be held on weekdays (Monday through Friday), with training hours running from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on some days, the training will extend from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
What to Expect During the Drills
During this time, residents can expect to see a significant number of police and fire vehicles in the area. Local residents and passersby should not be alarmed, as these activities are part of scheduled drills designed to improve emergency response coordination and community safety. These drills are not in response to any current emergency situation.
Public Awareness and Travel Considerations
The Valparaiso Police Department has assured the public that emergency services in the region are fully aware of these planned activities. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution while traveling near the high school and to be mindful of possible increases in local traffic due to the presence of emergency vehicles.
Appreciation for Local Partnerships
Officials have expressed their appreciation to Valparaiso Community Schools for their ongoing partnership, which plays a crucial role in enhancing community safety. By collaborating with local police and fire departments, these safety drills are designed to ensure that emergency personnel are well-prepared for any future incidents.
