Bridge work on I-65 north of Ridge Road in Lake County, Indiana, is nearing completion. Overnight lane closures will take place on I-65 southbound and the ramp from I-94 eastbound to I-65 southbound Monday night, August 18, as crews finish up work between Ridge Road and I-94.
The closures will occur from 11 p.m. Monday, August 18, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, August 19 to allow for permanent pavement markings. Once the work is completed, traffic will return to its normal configuration.
Ramp Reopenings Expected
Several ramps are set to reopen on Tuesday, August 19, including:
I-94 westbound to I-65 southbound
I-94 eastbound and I-65 southbound to Ridge Road
Ridge Road to I-65 southbound
However, officials caution that schedules remain weather-dependent and subject to change.
Ongoing Bridge Work and Additional Traffic Restrictions
The bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance took place at three locations on I-65:
Over 35th Avenue
Over the ramp from I-65 to westbound I-94
Over the Chicago, Ft. Wayne & Eastern Railroad
While major construction is nearly finished, additional traffic restrictions may occur as crews complete minor punch-list items.
Ongoing Work in Other Areas
Separate bridge deck overlay work continues on I-65 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad between Ridge Road and 61st Avenue and is expected to continue through mid-October. Additionally, pavement patching between 93rd Avenue and Central Avenue is underway. Drivers should expect fluctuating traffic patterns in these areas until all work is finished.
Motorist Advisory
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and be aware of changing lane configurations during the overnight work and ongoing repairs.
