Chicago, IL – Illinois residents are being targeted by a new scam text falsely claiming to be from U.S. Bank. The message warns of a pending $1,320.50 charge at “Sports Fanatics” and urges recipients to reply or click a link to cancel.
According to multiple sources, the texts are sent from unfamiliar numbers and contain links to fraudulent websites designed to steal personal or financial information. U.S. Bank has not yet commented on the scam, but financial experts are warning that the messages are not legitimate.
Authorities advise residents not to click the link or respond to the text. Instead, they should block the number, report the message as junk, and contact their bank directly using the phone number on their card if they have any concerns.
