Frost Advisory Issued for Parts of Nebraska Saturday Morning

Valentine, NE – The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for several areas across north central and western Nebraska, warning that temperatures could drop to near freezing levels overnight into Saturday morning.

The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. MDT (or 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. CDT) on Saturday, and includes the following counties and cities:

Sheridan County (Rushville, Gordon)

Eastern Cherry County (Valentine)

Grant County (Hyannis)

Hooker County

Western Cherry County (Mullen)

Cold Temperatures Could Harm Plants

Forecasters warn that temperatures may fall to around 32°F, creating conditions suitable for frost development. This could damage or kill sensitive plants and crops if left uncovered. Gardeners and farmers are advised to cover tender plants or bring them indoors to prevent frost-related damage.

Changing Weather Patterns Bring Early Autumn Conditions

This advisory comes as Nebraska sees a shift toward cooler fall weather, brought on by cold air systems moving through the central Plains. While a widespread hard freeze is not expected, the forecasted frost could still have an impact on home gardens and small agricultural operations.

What Residents Should Do

The National Weather Service recommends residents:

Cover or move sensitive plants indoors before bedtime Friday

Monitor local weather updates via weather apps or official channels

Stay alert for further warnings or advisories if temperatures continue to drop
