St. Louis, MO – Four teenagers were taken into custody overnight after allegedly leading police on a pursuit in a carjacked vehicle through St. Louis and into Bridgeton. The incident began late Tuesday night when police were called to the scene of a carjacking in the 4400 block of Kennerly Avenue.
Incident Details
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 11:30 p.m. to reports of a carjacking. The victim, an Uber driver, told authorities that he was held at gunpoint and forced out of his car. One of the suspects allegedly fired a shot at the victim, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
About an hour later, the Real-Time Crime Center notified officers of the location of the stolen vehicle. When police attempted to stop the car near Union and Cote Brilliante, the driver reportedly refused to pull over, leading to a pursuit.
Police Pursuit and Arrests
The suspects led officers on a chase through St. Louis, eventually reaching Bridgeton. With the help of Metro Air Support and local law enforcement agencies, the vehicle was stopped and all four suspects—two 15-year-olds, a 16-year-old, and a 17-year-old—were taken into juvenile custody without further incident.
Charges and Investigation
Police have described the incident as a violent carjacking, and stated that the suspects posed a danger to the community. Although no additional injuries occurred during the pursuit or arrest, the investigation is ongoing, and charges are expected to be filed.
