Cooler Days Return to Northern California: Relief Arrives for Gilroy, Cloverdale, Fremont by Thursday

San Francisco, California – After a hot start to July, Northern California residents can expect some welcome relief with a cooling trend arriving this weekend. By Thursday, temperatures in many parts of the Bay Area, including Gilroy, Cloverdale, and Fremont, will be much milder, offering a break from the recent heat.

Temperature Changes Across the Bay Area

The National Weather Service (NWS) has predicted that temperatures in Livermore will drop from 97°F on Saturday to the mid-80s by Wednesday and Thursday. Cloverdale and Concord are expected to see similar temperature drops. Coastal cities like Monterey, Pacifica, and Half Moon Bay will stay cooler with highs in the 60s and morning lows in the 50s.

Impacts of the Cooldown

This cooler weather brings good news for vulnerable groups as it reduces the risk of heat-related illnesses. However, morning fog may return, especially along Highway 1 and other coastal routes, making roads slippery. Travelers should be cautious on these routes.

Inland areas, such as Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and Hollister, may still experience some heat during peak afternoon hours, so it’s important to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities until the cooling trend is fully settled.

First Cooldown of July

This marks the first major cooldown in July, offering a break from the recent above-average temperatures. It is expected to last through Thursday, with further updates from the NWS if conditions change.
