A court-ordered compliance check at a home in Beckwourth, California turned into a drug bust over the weekend, with authorities seizing over 50 grams of methamphetamine and arresting two people. The operation was carried out by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office as part of its ongoing efforts to monitor court-supervised individuals.
Compliance Check Leads to Major Drug Discovery
Deputies arrived at a residence on Maddalena Road around 3:20 p.m. Saturday to conduct an Own Recognizance (OR) compliance check on 47-year-old Robert “Bob” McDowell. McDowell was under court supervision and subject to search and testing conditions.
Inside the home, deputies discovered a stash of approximately 53.5 grams of methamphetamine, packaged in multiple amounts. Authorities also found:
Digital scales
Drug pipes and small baggies
Modified glassware and vials
Other items commonly associated with drug sales and distribution
Arrests Made on Drug and Paraphernalia Charges
Following the search, Robert McDowell was arrested and booked into Plumas County Jail on several serious charges, including:
Possession of a controlled substance for sale
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Violation of a court order
Deputies also arrested 35-year-old Meagan Preston, who was found inside the same residence. According to the Sheriff’s Office, she appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She was booked for violating California Health and Safety Code 11550, which covers drug use or being under the influence of narcotics.
