Arlington Heights Traffic Alert: Kennicott Avenue Closed Sept. 15–29

Starting the week of September 15, sections of Kennicott Avenue in Arlington Heights will be closed to through traffic for daytime construction work. The closure will take place between Hintz Road and University Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. This project is part of the Village’s Street Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Program and is expected to last for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

Traffic Disruptions and Detours

During this time, contractors will place barricades on nearby side streets to redirect drivers away from Kennicott Avenue. While local access will be maintained, commuters are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays. The road will be reopened each evening after 5 p.m.

Project Purpose and Travel Advice

The closure is necessary for roadway reconstruction work aimed at improving safety and driving conditions in the area. Motorists traveling between University Drive, Hintz Road, and surrounding neighborhoods should expect longer travel times and plan ahead. For updates, residents can visit the village’s official roadway program website.
