A woman was allegedly robbed at gunpoint at her home in Florence, South Carolina. The Florence Police Department charged Clifton Waiters, 57, with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after the incident on February 19, 2024. According to records, Waiters allegedly approached the victim’s home on Chestnut Street and asked for $65. When the victim stated she didn’t have cash, Waiters showed her a black handgun in his waistband.

Robbery and Digital Transfer of Money

Waiters then allegedly forced the victim to CashApp him the $65. He returned to the victim’s home later that night, which was captured on video footage obtained by authorities. This evidence was crucial in identifying the suspect.

Identification Through Facial Recognition Technology

Police used South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s facial recognition technology to identify Waiters as the suspect. The victim confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest. Authorities have since charged Waiters with the armed robbery and weapons possession.
