A warming shelter called the Holy City Missions Winter Warming Shelter at Aldersgate will open on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 1444 Remount Road in North Charleston. The shelter will accept guests between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and close at 7 a.m. the following morning. It can accommodate up to 75 guests on a first-come, first-served basis, but pets are not allowed.
The shelter provides guests with a hot dinner, breakfast, a grab-and-go lunch bag, hot showers, warm clothes, toiletries, and an optional devotion time. Transportation is available via CARTA bus route 13, where passengers can request to be dropped off at the warming shelter. The forecast low temperature for those nights is around 38 degrees, prompting the shelter’s opening to provide safety and warmth to those in need during the colder weather.
