Greenwood, South Carolina — An Upstate man has been detained as part of a fraud probe in Greenwood County.
On Friday, September 26, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division accused Ziare Daquan Maurice Butler, 27, of Greenwood, with insurance fraud and forgery.
According to the arrest warrants, Butler reportedly filed a bogus insurance claim with Progressive Max Insurance Company in Greenwood County on January 7, including an altered medical bill of $6,891.06.
The South Carolina Department of Insurance sought an investigation into Butler’s behavior, which resulted in the accusations.
Butler was booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center after the charges.
The South Carolina Department of Insurance will prosecute the matter.
