Three South Carolina Department of Corrections employees at Turbeville Correctional Institution were arrested within a single day on Thursday for serious misconduct involving inmates.

Charges Against Bostick and Canteen

Latasha Moses Bostick, 42, of Lamar (administrative coordinator), and Latrese Victoria Rose Canteen, 46, of Florence (certified nursing assistant) face charges including financial transaction fraud ($300-$20,000), second-degree Computer Crime Act violations ($1,000-$10,000), bribery of a public official, criminal conspiracy, and furnishing contraband to inmates.

From July 2024 to July 2025, Canteen allegedly accepted $4,090 via Cash App for neglecting duties, communicated via contraband cellphones without reporting them, and laundered proceeds; Bostick took $4,135 via Cash App from August to December 2024 for similar failures and computer-assisted crimes.

Both were terminated, booked into Clarendon County Detention Center, and released on $4,000 bonds.

Former officer Shama Tenecia Toney, 42, of Dalzell, was arrested earlier that day for accessory after the fact to attempted murder (January 2, 2025 incident) and misconduct in office, after aiding an inmate in concealing a stabbing weapon and failing to report it; she posted $20,000 bond.
