There will be new Aldi locations in South Carolina. Here's where and when

Aldi is ramping up its presence in the Lowcountry and beyond with two confirmed new stores opening in 2026 as part of a massive nationwide push. These fit into their plan to hit 800 new locations by 2028, fueled by the 2024 acquisition of Southeastern Grocers (Winn-Dixie and Harveys parents). In the Southeast, expect about 80 conversions from those chains in 2026 alone.

  • Camden: 2209 W. DeKalb St. – Under construction, opening Summer 2026.
  • Bluffton: 80 Matthews Drive in Sea Turtle Marketplace – Planned for 2026.

This builds on strong 2025 growth in SC, where Aldi added stores in Duncan (1900 E. Main St., Nov 2025), Beaufort (361 Robert Smalls Parkway, Oct 2025), Georgetown County (75 Petigru Drive, Oct 2025), and a second in Mount Pleasant (3153 N. Highway 17, July 2025).

Why the Expansion Matters Locally

Aldi’s model—private-label brands, no-frills shopping—helps stretch budgets amid rising grocery costs, especially relevant in community-focused areas like the Lowcountry. CEO Atty McGrath highlighted reaching one in three U.S. households last year, with 2026 marking their 50th U.S. anniversary. The $9B five-year investment covers stores, supply chains, and online upgrades, aiming for nearly 2,800 stores by end-2026 and 3,200 by 2028.

If you’re in Bluffton or nearby, this Sea Turtle Marketplace spot could be a game-changer for quick, affordable essentials. Any plans to check out the grand openings, or interested in how this impacts local Winn-Dixie spots?
