Years after the pandemic-driven migration boom, Myrtle Beach remains a favorite destination for people seeking a fresh start. According to data from a national relocation company, Myrtle Beach is now the number one city in the U.S. for people moving in, with far more people wanting to move to the area than leave.
Myrtle Beach: The Hotspot for Relocations
MoveBuddha, a platform that helps people estimate moving costs and connects them with movers, analyzed 55,000 search queries from January 1 to March 10, 2025. The company compared the number of people looking to move to or from cities across the country. For every 100 people wanting to leave Myrtle Beach, 255 wanted to move there. This makes it the top destination in America for relocations.
But Myrtle Beach isn’t alone in its popularity. South Carolina, where Myrtle Beach is located, continues to be the most popular state for relocation. In fact, based on early data from 2025, more than twice as many people searched for moving to South Carolina than those searching for states to leave.
Other South Carolina Cities in High Demand
Myrtle Beach may be the top spot, but other cities in South Carolina are also seeing more people moving in than out. Greenville, SC, ranks third on the list, with 229 searches for moving in for every 100 searches to leave. Charleston, SC, also makes the top 10, with 168 searches to move in for every 100 looking to leave.
