Summerville, S.C. – The sounds of original music are filling historic downtown Summerville this weekend as the Southern Songwriter Festival returns for its third year.
A Celebration of Stories and Songs
Running Thursday through Saturday, the festival is dedicated to highlighting songwriters from across the Southeast, giving them the spotlight to perform hundreds of original songs and share the personal stories behind their music.
Organizers say 2025’s event is the biggest yet, thanks to expanded community partnerships and a growing audience of music lovers. In total, 40 songwriters will perform across the three-day showcase.
Where and When to Attend
Even if you missed opening night, you can still enjoy two full days of music:
Friday, Sept. 12 – 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 13 – 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The festival is held on Songwriter Alley, a small stretch of Central Avenue between W Richardson Avenue and S Cedar Street/W 2nd S Street.
Building Community Through Music
Festival organizers say the event is about more than entertainment — it’s about fostering connection. By creating a space where songwriters can share their craft, Summerville is strengthening its reputation as a Lowcountry hub for original music.
The Southern Songwriter Festival brings together creativity, community, and culture in the heart of downtown Summerville. Whether you’re a casual listener or a lifelong fan of live music, this weekend’s event offers a chance to hear original songs up close and experience the stories behind the music.
