The owner of a renowned Charlotte club is accused of breaking into a home and raping a 13-year-old girl.

Justin Brigham, 44, co-founder and owner of Sycamore Brewing in Charlotte’s South End, faces serious charges including first-degree burglary, statutory rape of a 13-year-old girl, and indecent liberties with a child. Authorities report he broke into a Stanfield home on December 10, 2025, where the victim’s parents discovered him in the girl’s bedroom; deputies later found and arrested him undressed in a nearby vehicle. Court records indicate he communicated with the minor via a social media app for two weeks, despite her appearing underage and confirming her age.

Charges and Bond

A judge set Brigham’s secured bond at $10 million during his first court appearance on December 11, describing the allegations as “egregious”. He remains held at Stanly County Detention Center, with his next appearance scheduled for December 29; conditions if bonded include staying in North Carolina, surrendering his passport, avoiding social media, and no victim contact. Sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at his south Charlotte home the following day.

Brewery Response

Brigham’s wife and co-owner, Sarah Taylor, stated she is devastated by the charges’ impact on their family and others, confirming he will have no further involvement with Sycamore Brewing. Reports note Sycamore beer pulled from shelves across the Carolinas amid backlash. The investigation continues, with tips sought via Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.
