Spartanburg, SC Weather Warning: Weekend showers ahead, dropping to 28°F freeze by Sunday night.

It feels more like spring than winter this morning in Spartanburg, with humid air and overcast skies covering downtown. Temperatures are already in the mid-60s and are expected to climb to around 78 degrees by early afternoon.

The National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg reports a chance of showers through midmorning, followed by gradual clearing. West winds between 10 and 13 mph could gust up to 25 mph. Brief downpours may create slick spots along Interstate 85 and Interstate 26, though widespread flooding is not expected. Keeping an umbrella nearby through late morning is advised.

Rain Returns Tonight and Saturday

Clouds increase again tonight, with lows near 52 degrees and a 40 percent chance of showers after 2 a.m. Saturday turns wetter, with rain likely before early afternoon and highs near 64 degrees under light winds.

Another round of rain is expected Saturday night into early Sunday. Conditions begin to improve Sunday afternoon as skies gradually clear and highs reach near 54 degrees.

Cold Front Brings Freeze Concern

A sharp cold front moves in late Sunday, sending temperatures down to around 28 degrees overnight under mostly clear skies. Gusty winds may develop behind the front into Monday, especially in higher elevations, where gusts could approach advisory levels.

The rapid temperature drop raises concerns for a possible flash-freeze in areas where roads remain wet. Monday will be sunny but colder, with highs near 43 degrees. Temperatures rebound to around 50 on Tuesday under bright skies and climb into the upper 50s by Wednesday. Longer-range trends suggest above-normal warmth could return late next week, bringing early spring vibes back to the Upstate.
