The No. 57 Arkansas Razorbacks secured a much-needed 9-10 victory over the No. 27 South Carolina Gamecocks, improving their season record to 11-10 (2-9 SEC). With this win, the Razorbacks continue their fight for a stronger finish to the season.
Strong Start in Doubles Play
The Razorbacks took an early lead by winning the doubles point. No. 39 Carolina Gomez and Anet Koskel defeated South Carolina’s No. 9 Helena Buchwald and Lauren Friedman, 6-3.
In another dominant performance, Jimena Gomez and Alexandra Panagiotidou cruised to a 6-1 victory over Sara Borkop and Jane Dunyon.
Singles Play Propels Razorbacks to Victory
The Razorbacks carried their momentum into singles, where several key victories sealed the win. No. 39 Carolina Gomez defeated No. 56 Kaitlyn Carnicella in a hard-fought match, 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-3, clinching the overall victory for Arkansas.
Alexandra Panagiotidou also made her mark, taking down Taylor Goetz, 6-3, 6-3. Jimena Gomez defeated Jane Dunyon in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.
Brooke Schafer, however, fell to No. 52 Helena Buchwald in a tightly contested match, 7-6(3), 6-2.
