An investigation is underway following shots fired during a high school football game in the Upstate. According to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, gunfire rang out from Dorman High School’s parking lot. Friday night.

The event occurred late in the fourth quarter of Dorman’s home playoff game against Ridgeview. Sheriff Bill Rhyne posted a social media video on Saturday claiming that deputies rushed quickly to the parking lot and secured the stadium.

The Sheriff also applauded the school district for implementing a weapons detection system to keep firearms out of the stadium. The altercation was limited to the parking lot, with no injuries recorded and no arrests announced.

Dorman won 35-14 and will face defending state champions Dutch Fork on Friday for a spot in the class 5A Division 1 State Championship Game.
