CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A portion of Edgeland Road in Chester County will close next week as crews begin construction of a new turn lane at the intersection with South Carolina Highway 9, the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announced Monday.
Beginning March 1, motorists will be detoured around Edgefield Road while crews work to improve sight distance by lowering a hill near the intersection and constructing the new turn lane.
The closure is expected to last approximately 10 months. During that time, Edgeland Road will remain open to local traffic only.
SCDOT is urging drivers to slow down, follow posted detours, and remain alert for construction signs and crews once the project gets underway.
