A Richland County sheriff’s deputy, Tiffany Anderson, has been fired and arrested after being accused of assault. The 45-year-old deputy was charged with simple assault following an incident on March 23, where deputies responded to a call regarding an assault at a residence on Laurel Bluff Court.

Details of the Incident

An investigation into the incident revealed that Anderson had struck the victim multiple times during a quarrel, causing injuries. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department released a statement condemning Anderson’s actions.

“Her actions are inexcusable,” said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott. “It makes me angry to see someone who is entrusted with enforcing the law break it.”

Termination and Arrest

Anderson, who had been with the department since July 2024, was fired from her position and arrested on Friday. She was subsequently booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Community Impact

The incident has raised concerns about the behavior of law enforcement officers, with Sheriff Lott emphasizing the importance of maintaining the integrity of those entrusted with upholding the law.
