Orangeburg, SC — Deputies from the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a controlled incident Tuesday after an attempted warrant serve resulted in a brief standoff along Columbia Road.
According to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, deputies arrived at a residence on the 4400 block of Columbia Road at 11:45 a.m. to serve a warrant on a person. “My deputies went to serve a warrant on a subject at a Columbia Road residence, and the subject refused to come out,” Ravenell told the reporter. “We’d ask that you avoid traveling in the area to prevent traffic build up.”
The Sheriff’s Office reported that the situation was promptly resolved and that there was no danger to neighboring people. Authorities have not revealed information about the subject or the nature of the warrant.
Deputies temporarily barred access to portions of Columbia Road as a precaution. Traffic delays were observed in the area, but have now been resolved.
Residents should keep an eye out for official updates on the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
