A housing developer intends to build 243 new dwellings in a previously undeveloped land along Garners Ferry Road.
Great Southern Homes plans to build the new subdivision behind the Garners Ferry Road Walmart on Patterson Road, pending Columbia Planning Commission permission.
The approximately 60-acre development site would be bordered by Annie Burnside Elementary School to the west and an existing community to the east.
Casetta Pines, the proposed development, would have a pool and community center, as well as slightly more than 20 acres of greenspace to accommodate the area’s wetlands.
Great Southern Homes’ application will be considered by the planning commission during its meeting on Thursday.
