The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) responded to a shooting on the 4300 block of Dorchester Road just before noon on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025. Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound and property damage from gunfire; she received hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have occurred as of early December 2025, with the investigation ongoing.​

Residents can provide anonymous tips via the NCPD’s CrimeWatch app, available on app stores by searching for North Charleston Police Department, or through the department’s website at northcharlestonpd.org. The app, launched in July 2025 as South Carolina’s first of its kind, supports multiple languages including Spanish and allows users to view crime trends on interactive maps.​
Community Role
NCPD Chief Ron Camacho emphasizes the app’s role in fostering transparency and direct communication, encouraging tips with or without contact details to aid in preventing crime. Over 554 subscriptions occurred shortly after launch, promoting active community involvement in public safety.
