Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office charged 18-year-old D’Andre Azam Ivey with murder and firearm possession during a violent crime after he allegedly shot his mother’s boyfriend, 37-year-old Justin Damien Bailey, early Monday, March 16, 2026.
Incident Details
Deputies responded to a 1:30 a.m. shooting call at a Thompson Road home in Lancaster, S.C. They found Bailey with multiple gunshot wounds in his bedroom; he died at a hospital despite paramedic efforts. Ivey, living there with his girlfriend, Bailey, and his mother, reportedly argued with Bailey over his “lifestyle” late Sunday, grabbed a pistol, and fired several shots.
Arrest and Charges
Ivey fled briefly with his girlfriend in a blue 2014 Ford Taurus but was stopped nearby on Thompson Road. Deputies recovered the suspected gun from their vehicle and ballistic evidence from the home. His girlfriend faces no charges. Ivey was denied bond at his Monday court appearance and booked into Lancaster County Detention Center.
Sheriff Barry Faile called it a tragic family dispute turned violent. This fits a pattern of domestic shootings in rural SC counties; investigations continue. Thoughts with the family amid this loss.
