Berkeley County, South Carolina — Improvements to the intersection of Cooper Store Road and Black Tom Road Extension will begin on Tuesday.

Interim improvements will include removing the existing “Y” layout and restriping to create a more conventional intersection, new pavement markings such as solid double yellow centerlines, white edge lines, and turn arrows, stop bars at approaches, and updated signage to direct drivers through the revised layout.

The Berkeley County Government stated that the work will take approximately two days to complete, depending on weather conditions.

“A long-term improvement project continues to move through the design process and is being funded by the County’s One Cent Sales Tax Program,” said the municipality.

As construction begins on Tuesday, people are advised to drive cautiously in and around the work area, as well as to pay attention to message board signage indicating lane changes and other traffic control devices.
