Indianapolis — Forty-eight members of Indiana Task Force One are traveling to the Carolinas to assist in storm response.
The urban search and rescue crew left Indianapolis around 6 a.m. on Sunday. They’re being deployed ahead of a tropical storm that’s heading up the southeast coast.
The squad will give emergency rescue assistance in locations that may be affected by the storm.
South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster warned residents to keep a careful eye on the weather and stay alert. In North Carolina, Gov. Josh Stein announced a state of emergency ahead of the storm, which is now known as Tropical Depression Nine.
