Goose Creek, South Carolina. A house caught fire in Goose Creek on Thursday evening, killing four cats and injuring one firefighter.
The Goose Creek Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Pinewood Way at 6:02 p.m. on Thursday.
When they arrived, they discovered a two-story residence with heavy smoke streaming out the front entrance. Firefighters investigated the residence and discovered people. Crews then used handlines to suppress the fire.
The four cats died tragically as a result of the heavy smoke in the property. The fire damage was limited to the kitchen, where the flames erupted, but substantial smoke damage was seen throughout the house.
The Goose Creek Fire Department reported that the fire was caused by a cooking mistake. Smoke alarms in the home notified the residents, allowing them to safely flee.
