Isle of Palms, S.C. — Volunteers will gather Monday evening for a beach cleanup following the long Fourth of July holiday weekend. The Isle of Palms Cleanup Crew is organizing an “all hands on deck” litter and debris collection event to keep the island’s beach clean and beautiful.

Cleanup Details

The beach cleanup will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with volunteers meeting at the beach walkover located between the outdoor showers and the building with the IOP mural, near Coconut Joe’s on Ocean Boulevard. This event is open to all, and supplies will be provided for the cleanup, so no pre-registration is necessary.

Why the Cleanup Is Needed

Organizers stress that the Monday after the Fourth of July weekend is typically one of the busiest and dirtiest days for the Isle of Palms beach. Following a holiday filled with visitors and celebrations, the beach is often left with an accumulation of trash and debris, making the volunteer cleanup event essential.

Partners in the Cleanup

In addition to the Isle of Palms Cleanup Crew, the Isle of Palms Police Department and the South Carolina Aquarium’s conservation team will co-host the cleanup effort. Their collaboration underscores the importance of preserving the natural beauty of the island for both residents and visitors alike.

How to Get Involved

Anyone interested in volunteering can simply show up at the designated meeting spot at 6 p.m. on Monday. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor, your help is welcome to ensure the beach remains a clean and enjoyable place for everyone.
