Flooding shuts the road in Nichols community area; three people are rescued from vehicles

Horry County, South Carolina — Flooding has forced the closure of a road in the Nichols village.

Horry County Fire Rescue (HCFR) said that they were summoned just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday to the area of Highway 19 and Maplewild Road for flooding.

HCFR reported that three individuals were rescued from two automobiles.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area since the road is expected to be closed for a prolonged length of time.

South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Horry County Police Department are assisting.
